Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Technician Job Description

The Mechanical Assembly Technician performs mechanical rework and assembly on generator units and related skid-mounted equipment. This role focuses on mounting components on skids, drilling and tapping, installing flywheels, realigning generator doors, cutting and stripping cables, and installing junction boxes. The technician collaborates closely with the engineering team to refine optimal design and layout and may have the opportunity to transition into FAT or FRT testing activities.

• Perform mechanical rework on a fixed number of generator units according to specifications and quality standards.
• Mount various components on skids, including motors, engines, compressors, pumps, generators, or equivalent equipment.
• Drill and tap holes in metal and other materials to prepare for mounting and fastening components.
• Install flywheels and ensure proper alignment and secure installation.
• Re-align generator doors and related assemblies to meet functional and safety requirements.
• Cut and strip cables accurately to specified lengths in preparation for terminations and connections.
• Install junction boxes (J-boxes) and route cables to support system functionality and serviceability.
• Work hand in hand with the engineering team to determine and refine optimal design and layout of components on skids and generator units.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and assembly documentation to complete builds and rework.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during all assembly and rework tasks.
• Inspect own work to verify proper installation, alignment, and function of all components.
• Collaborate with team members and engineering to resolve assembly issues and suggest improvements.
• Follow all safety procedures, shop practices, and quality standards within the manufacturing facility.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and equipment after use.
• Potentially support FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) or FRT testing activities as skills and project needs align.

• 4+ years of experience in skid unit, frack unit, or generator assembly.
• Proficiency in mechanical assembly of skid-mounted equipment, including generators and related components.
• Ability to drill and tap holes accurately for mounting and fastening.
• Experience mounting motors, engines, compressors, pumps, generators, or equivalent mechanical equipment.
• Skill in cutting and stripping cables to required specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and assembly drawings.
• Proficient use of hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to verify proper alignment and fit of assembled components.
• Capability to work collaboratively with engineering and production teams.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and quality standards.

• FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) experience is a strong plus.
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics is beneficial.
• Wiring experience and familiarity with electrical terminations are advantageous.
• Prior work on frack units, generator packages, or similar industrial equipment is highly valued.
• Comfort working from blueprints and technical documentation in a production environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to support continuous improvement of layouts and processes.
• Interest in cross-training and potential transfer to FAT or FRT testing teams.

You work in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility that supports comfort and consistency throughout the year. The role is based in a production environment with access to standard manufacturing equipment, hand tools, and power tools used for mechanical assembly and rework. The schedule follows a first-shift pattern from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a predictable daytime workweek. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and collaboration between assembly and engineering teams.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
