Description Position is hybrid. Will cover Saint Mary Waterbury, Saint Francis Hartford, Johnson Memorial Stafford, Mercy Medical Springfield. Employment Type Full time Shift Day Shift Purpose In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Value Analysis Consultant is responsible for the implementation and ongoing management of the Value Analysis process within a framework of quality and safety focusing on appropriate utilization of supplies and services. Works with key stakeholders to identify and direct supply related requests for cardiovascular, surgical services and all other clinical areas to achieve safe patient care while improving product quality and cost of goods. Collaborates with Ministry stakeholders as well as local and system leadership to develop effective cost‑reduction strategic and implementation plans. Facilitates a healing environment, reverentially encouraging and supporting basic needs as sacred acts, sustaining human dignity; practices in an environmentally safe, professional & healthy manner; values & advocates for the patient’s cultural beliefs & faith; monitors & initiates corrections or evidence‑based practices; promotes optimum physical & psychological behaviors; influences effective, judicious & financially responsible use of resources (people, equipment, supplies, materials). Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years’ experience in a health‑care related role with experience directly related to supply chain, value analysis, clinical supply expense management, or sourcing. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of clinical products, Supply Chain management principles and practices as normally acquired through work experience. Additional Qualifications (nice to have) LPN, LVN or RN work experience. Professional clinical certification acquired through an accredited program. Physical And Mental Requirements & Working Conditions Indirect / Healthcare Support Services Rare clinical / patient‑facing work environment. Includes continuous work time indoors (subject to travel requirements) under temperature‑controlled & well‑lit conditions; may encounter occasional variable external environmental conditions. Includes occasional lifting, up to 30 pounds unassisted, frequent travel & use of computer; includes continuous sitting & may require rare long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling & pushing. Direct Healthcare & Indirect / Support Healthcare Services: must be able to: Adapt to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities & stressful situations; attend to tasks until complete, understand & relate to complex ideas & concepts & be able to remember multiple tasks & regimens extending over long periods of time & work on concurrent tasks / projects. Read small print, frequent ability to hear normal sounds & voice patterns, able to give / receive instructions & other verbal communications in‑person & over the phone/computer/device/equipment assigned with some background noise. Perform frequent manual dexterity activities & occasional grasping/handling. Continuous attention to maintain a safe working environment & use of available personal protective equipment (PPE). Comply with Trinity Health’s policies & procedures. Key Average Workday Activity: Occasional (1% – 33%), Frequent (34% – 66%), Continuous (67% – 100%). References OSHA 1910.502. Direct patient care means hands‑on, face‑to‑face contact with patients for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring. 1910.502 applies to an employee who provides healthcare services or healthcare support services. Healthcare services mean services that are provided to individuals by professional healthcare practitioners (e.g., doctors, nurses, emergency medical personnel, oral health professionals) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining, monitoring, or restoring health. Healthcare services are delivered through various means including: hospitalization, long‑term care, ambulatory care, home health and hospice care, emergency medical response, and patient transport. For the purposes of this section, healthcare services include autopsies. Healthcare support services mean services that facilitate the provision of healthcare services. Healthcare support services include patient intake/admission, patient food services, equipment and facility maintenance, housekeeping services, healthcare laundry services, medical waste handling services, and medical equipment cleaning/reprocessing services. Addendum Serves as a resource for leading initiatives that balance optimal clinical outcomes with appropriate product utilization and supply stewardship within assigned Ministry or Region. Develops collaborative Ministry Value Analysis programs aligned with the system Value Analysis organization that will foster accountability and enhance optimal supply spend in all Med/Surg product categories. Leads activities that increase contract compliance while reducing stock‑keeping units (SKUs), using a clinically driven standardization process within assigned Ministry and/or Region. Supply Status: Researches and identifies functional product equivalents and/or other conservation methods for supply chain disruptions. Value analysis: Provides support and/or oversight to stakeholder and service line teams to develop spend management strategies in new product and technology reviews, utilization management, and reduction of waste. Ensures there is a balance between service line profitability and clinical effectiveness. Responsible for leading the value analysis process and governance, identifying and tracking savings opportunities, and staying current with major developments and changes within the assigned commodities. Capital Purchasing: Provides guidance on strategic capital when disposable patient care items are impacted. Strategic Sourcing: Responsible for compliance with applicable local, regional and System Office and GPO contracts as identified by Trinity Health Strategic Sourcing. Vendor Management: Complies with Trinity Health Supplier Policy and related procedures. Compensation Pay Range: $75,592 – $113,389 per year. Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
