Quality Manager

Position Summary

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading all quality-related activities within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with applicable industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory specifications while overseeing quality systems, inspections, audits, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day quality functions within the organization.
• Lead and supervise Quality Control personnel and activities.
• Develop and coordinate internal and external quality schedules and inspections.
• Lead customer, certification, and regulatory audits.
• Oversee material certifications, testing programs, and quality documentation.
• Manage welding procedures, procedure qualifications, and welder certifications.
• Monitor product and process nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
• Report quality performance, trends, and issues to senior leadership.
• Develop, manage, and monitor the Quality Department budget and operating expenses.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and third-party vendors to resolve quality-related concerns.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational performance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and specifications.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in Quality Management, Process Improvement, or Industrial Manufacturing Management.
• Strong working knowledge of industry standards and specifications, including AWS D1.1, AASHTO, AISC, and ASTM requirements.
• Understanding of nondestructive examination (NDE) methods, including:
• • Visual Testing (VT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Radiographic Testing (RT)
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
• Background in structural steel fabrication, welding, or related heavy manufacturing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality control or quality management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience with welding processes, including:
• • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
• Ability to travel periodically for audits, training, customer visits, or supplier meetings.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related field preferred.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
• Level II or higher certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Radiographic Testing (RT) preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication or related manufacturing environments preferred.
• Certifications in welding inspection and nondestructive testing are highly desirable.
