Family Medicine Physician opening in SE Kansas on OK border

Overview

A progressive, well‑resourced rural FQHC is seeking a BE/BC Family Medicine Physician to join their medical clinical team. This position is responsible for delivering preventive, diagnostic, treatment, patient education and referral care rendered by the center. The provider is accountable for the delivery and quality of all services, including any supervised mid‑level providers, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the medical director.

Responsibilities

• Provides complete, comprehensive outpatient care for patients including health examinations and treatment of medical conditions, including follow‑up of problems detected.
• Manages acute and chronic illness and routine care through coordinated care plans, when appropriate, with the patient’s behavioral health provider.
• Provides appropriate referrals to internal disciplines and/or external resources/agencies.
• Prescribes medications for patients for treatment of conditions as indicated.
• Provides clinical consultation to other providers as needed.
• Oversees mid‑level providers responsible for delivering medical services, as assigned.
• Oversees medical students, as assigned.
• Ensures accurate, timely, and clear medical record documentation.
• Provides appropriate follow‑up with clinical support staff to include telephone/written correspondence (e.g., inform patients of test results).
• Communicates clearly in writing and orally to patients/guardians and employees.
• Participates in an on‑call system for after‑hours care and care for inpatient population, as assigned.
• Weighs the relative costs and benefits of a potential action.
• Ensures medical/clinical policies related to center health services are current and accurate.

Qualifications

• Full licensure to practice medicine in the State of Kansas and/or Oklahoma.
• Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.
• Completion of residency in appropriate specialty.
• Board Certified in appropriate specialty.
• A strong community/public health orientation (preferred).
• Commitment to serving the underserved.
