PART-TIME BOOKKEEPER

Pay: $23.00-$26.00/hour
Schedule: 20 hours/week | Hybrid

ABOUT THE ROLE

A local animal shelter is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team on a part-time, hybrid basis. This is a hands-on accounting position for someone who is comfortable owning the day-to-day books, processing payroll, handling reconciliations, and working independently.

You'll work directly with the Executive Director on budgeting and help keep the organization's financial records accurate, organized, and audit-ready.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Maintain the general ledger and organized accounting files.
• Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable .
• Complete month-end journal entries.
• Reconcile bank and investment accounts.
• Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 40 employees.
• Prepare quarterly payroll tax documentation.
• Review invoices and purchase orders for accuracy.
• Communicate with vendors as needed.
• Compile documentation for the annual audit.
• Work directly with the Executive Director on budgeting.
• Handle day-to-day accounting responsibilities independently.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

5+ YEARS OF QUICKBOOKS EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED

This is the biggest screening requirement. Candidates must have substantial hands-on experience using QuickBooks for day-to-day accounting functions.

We're specifically looking for someone who understands accounting behind payroll , including payroll-related journal entries and payroll tax reporting-not someone whose experience is limited to entering payroll data.

Additional experience we're looking for:

• Full-cycle bookkeeping experience strongly preferred.
• Strong Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience.
• Ability to independently process payroll.
• Understanding of payroll accounting and payroll tax reporting.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience with bank and account reconciliations.
• Ability to work independently and stay organized.

SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• 20 hours per week.
• Hybrid schedule.
• Must be able to travel to the organization's animal shelter a few days each week as part of the hybrid schedule.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• $23.00-$26.00/hour, depending on experience.
