Safety Manager

Job Title: Safety Manager Location: Leipsic, Ohio Start Date: 8/31/2026 Duration: Approx. 2 months - ending 10/12/2026 Type: 1099 Contractor Compensation: Rate: $50 - $52/hr Per Diem: None Available Pay Frequency: Weekly Hours: Approximately 50 hours per week Schedule: Monday - Friday (may include weekend work as project demands) Shift: Day Shift Project Scope: This project involves a major shutdown and expansion effort at a pet food manufacturing facility in Leipsic, Ohio. The work includes demolition of existing equipment, installation of new systems, electrical conduit activities, and the addition of milling capacity within the facility. The Safety Manager will oversee safety compliance throughout all phases of the project, ensuring safe execution of demolition, mechanical installation, crane operations, material handling, and contractor activities. The role will require close coordination with field supervision, craft personnel, and subcontractors to maintain a safe work environment during a fast‑paced shutdown schedule. Given the nature of the project, the Safety Manager must be comfortable working around heavy equipment, rigging operations, elevated work areas, and multiple trades operating simultaneously within active construction zones. Qualifications OSHA 30 and/or OSHA 510 certification Experience supporting mechanical contractors Strong fall protection knowledge and field experience Crane and rigging safety experience Industrial construction or shutdown project experience Ability to enforce safety policies and procedures in the field Additional Requirements Ability to work approximately 50 hours per week Flexibility to support weekend work when required Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to conduct field audits, inspections, and safety observations Experience working in multi‑contractor environments Ability to maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting Key Responsibilities Monitor and enforce site safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and observations Lead safety orientations and toolbox talks Support safe execution of demolition and equipment installation activities Oversee fall protection compliance and hazard mitigation Monitor crane, rigging, and lifting operations Investigate incidents, near misses, and corrective actions Collaborate with project management and field supervision on safety planning Maintain required safety records, reports, and documentation Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project Skills Safety Compliance OSHA Standards Fall Protection Crane & Rigging Safety Industrial Construction Mechanical Contractor Support Hazard Identification Incident Investigation Auditing & Inspections Documentation Communication Leadership Knowledge Base The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of industrial construction safety practices, OSHA regulations, shutdown and turnaround projects, mechanical installation activities, equipment demolition, crane and rigging operations, and fall protection programs.
