POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a driven Union Commercial HVAC Service Technician to support startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service of commercial HVAC systems across Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. This role plays a key part in ensuring systems are operating as intended while building strong, lasting relationships with contractors, owners, and manufacturer partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform on-site equipment start-up and commissioning
• Troubleshoot HVAC systems and control installations
• Diagnose and resolve issues using logical problem-solving
• Coordinate with installing contractors and manufacturers to resolve system issues
• Support owner representatives in verifying proper system setup and performance
• Document all service activity and maintain detailed jobsite reports
• Communicate directly with building owners regarding system performance and maintenance needs
• Execute work under preventative maintenance agreements
• Collaborate with internal sales teams and service partners to deliver consistent, high-quality support

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Associate's degree in HVAC or equivalent experience (5+ years preferred)
• Strong technical aptitude, including electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
• Experience with mechanical equipment and diagnosing control systems
• Self-starter with a high level of initiative and accountability
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Professional demeanor when interacting with customers, coworkers, and manufacturers
• Ability to work in fast-paced, active jobsite environments
• Local Union Membership required – Local 10, Local 539, Local 455

EXPERIENCE PREFFERENCES

• Experience working with and troubleshooting advanced equipment attached to BMS systems
• Experience with applied equipment – Water cooled/Air Cooled chillers, modular chillers, heat pumps, VRF systems
• Refrigeration experience, Gas experience – with required certifications
• Experience working with operating room systems – fan filter units, HEPA OR ceiling systems etc.
• Lab exhaust experience – fans, air valves, exhaust hoods etc.
• Dust collection system experience

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working on roofs and in confined spaces
• Travel to customer job sites as required — within the Upper Midwest
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
