Maintenance Plumber

Job Summary Performs duties described in the Service Contract Act Service Order MAINTENANCE PLUMBER LICENSE. May perform duties of other classifications that have a pay rate equal to or lower than the employee's current rate. Responsibilities Assemble, install and repair pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of the structure resulting from installation of pipe. Locate and mark positions of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes in walls and floors. Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools. Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine. Bend pipe to required angles by use of pipe-banding machine or by hand. Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes composed of metals and nonmetals. Join pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent and caulks. Fill pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine system leaks. Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers and water softeners. Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes and opening clogged drains. Other Responsibilities Safety – employees are responsible for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment, completing training, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees. Quality – employees must conform to the Amentum Quality Policy and carry out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts. Procedure Compliance – employees must read, understand and implement the operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to the job. Qualifications High school or equivalent. Two (2) years journeyman level experience in the trade. Ability to use hand and power tools associated with job duties. Desired Qualifications Two (2) years advanced education or equivalent specialized training. Certifications & Licenses Duval County license. Journeyman Plumbers License. Valid Driver's License.
