Quality Specialist (Space Systems)

Overview The Quality Specialist's role will primarily focus on activities within the Material Review Board and Corrective Action. Requirements 0-5 years\' experience in quality-related functions Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree preferred Working knowledge of standard quality concepts, preferred Familiarity with various aspects of quality control Ability to effectively work in cross-functional teams Must be flexible and able to balance multiple tasks Strong verbal/written communication skills for interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization and with external parties (vendors, suppliers, customers, etc.) Strong computer literacy, MS Office/PC expertise, and experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc. Eligibility to obtain/maintain a security clearance Knowledge/experience with AS9100 a plus Must be a US Citizen Responsibilities Assist with MRB activity and follow up on corrective actions Review raw material for Level I/Space programs Support lot verification and stagings (kit inspections against Level I / Space programs) Review process data, contracts, and PO flow-down Support process surveillance and work center audits Assist with, and conduct, failure investigations and drive corrective actions Support AS9100 Participate in continuous improvement teams as directed Evaluate supplier processes and collaborate on process improvement opportunities Read and interpret blueprints; understand definitions of critical, major and minor characteristics Use inspection planning tools and perform product audits; determine sample sizes, pull random samples, and inspect per AQL; may perform 100% inspection as required Check surfaces on work pieces for dimensional tolerances, geometric relationships, appearance, workmanship, cleanliness, and marking Identify and handle nonconforming items; document defects and re-grade as needed Review and understand traceability (product, material, and calibration) Adhere to routing, drawings, quality instructions and SOPs; complete standard inspection forms Provide supplier certification and test reports with shipments as required; maintain inspection records Archive records and support automation of record keeping Ensure proper parts-handling procedures Support daily operations with analysis and problem-solving Additional Duties / Responsibilities Bring initiatives to closure through effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders Maintain relationships with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, and other areas Adhere to safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies; ensure regulatory and internal system compliance Contribute to a positive work environment through effective communication at all levels Participate in team meetings and improvement initiatives to support company goals Demonstrate commitment to company values Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems Assume related duties as required Ensure work areas are clean, secure, and well maintained Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required Work Environment Professional office and manufacturing/machine shop environment; standard office equipment and required safety protections Full-time position; overtime and weekend work may be required Some travel may be required (about 10%) Physical Requirements Regularly required to talk and hear; vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Frequent use of hands and arms; ability to manipulate objects Ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, or crouch and move about the facility Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 40 pounds Legal and Contact Information Location: Montville, NJ corporate offices No agencies, please.
