Job Duties Moves materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas. Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within assigned area. May be trained in the use of heavy equipment such as forklift in preparation for certification as required to move to a Freight Handler job. May sweep floors, clean dock area, general good hygiene of entire work area. Assist in receiving cargo by removing from truck by hand, or using manual equipment such as hand truck or pallet jack or similar manual hand tools. Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or moves orders to packing station or shipping department. Opens bales, crates, and other containers. Sorts and places materials or items on racks shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous warehouse or material handling training is beneficial. Experience Requirements Experience moving, organizing, loading, or unloading materials in warehouse or manufacturing environments. Ability to accurately identify products, labels, inventory locations, and shipping documentation. Knowledge of safe material handling practices and workplace safety procedures. Ability to operate pallet jacks or other material handling equipment as required. Strong attention to detail, organization, and dependable work habits. Stable work history. Preferred Qualifications Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution experience is preferred. Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, or warehouse management systems is beneficial. Knowledge of inventory control procedures, warehouse documentation, or Lean warehouse practices is considered an asset. Individuals who demonstrate reliability, teamwork, attention to detail, and safe work habits are well positioned for success as a Material Handler. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive material handling tasks throughout the shift. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely move products using manual or powered material handling equipment. Ability to work efficiently in warehouse or manufacturing environments while following established safety procedures.
