Associate Veterinarian - Stoney Pointe Pet Hospital

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian to join our team at Stoney Pointe Pet Hospital in Rochester, New York. The ideal candidate will provide high‑quality veterinary care and maintain strong communication with clients and staff. Position Overview The Associate Veterinarian will work alongside experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff, collaborating with the Hospital Manager and Regional Director to deliver comprehensive care. Key Responsibilities Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Client communication and education Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery Maintain accurate medical records Pharmacy duties: prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols Promote teamwork and staff efficiency Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluate and monitor protocols for the daily running of the hospital from intake to discharge Monitor cases and attend daily rounds to uphold highest standards Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels Perform other duties as assigned by Management Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university Current State Veterinary License DEA registration must be obtained and maintained 1+ years of experience in a veterinary practice Strong diagnostic and clinical skills Excellent surgical and dental skills Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to providing compassionate and high‑quality veterinary care Client communication skills: elicit information, establish rapport, offer explanations with pet owners Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain Include some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as required Perform moderately physically demanding work periodically Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Clinical examination of animals, including cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological, and other necessary exams, with appropriate diagnosis and treatment Problem‑solving: develop solutions to challenges in high‑quality veterinary hospital management Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff Professionalism: give and receive constructive criticism and feedback Business acumen: understand veterinary hospital management and finances Ethics: knowledge of ethical principles guiding patient decisions Commitment to continuing education and facilitation of others’ learning Benefits Signing, retention and relocation packages up to $100,000 Medical, dental, and vision insurance Competitive salary and production bonus – no negative accrual option Paid parental leave (birth, adoption, foster) 401(k) with discretionary contribution Team Member Pet Discounts Emotional wellbeing support – Calm app access and 24/7 EAP CE stipends and career development resources Grant Circle – relief fund for personal hardship Local hospital culture backed by national resources Pay Range $130,000 — $145,000 USD Location Stoney Pointe Pet Hospital, Rochester, New York EEO Statement PetVet is an equal opportunity employer.
