PRN OBGYN Hospitalist Opportunity

Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is adding a PRN OBGYN hospitalist to our team. This job location is currently located in a Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and/or Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUA/P) Shortage Designation Type.

Position Highlights:

• With 407 beds, this regional referral center features a modern facility built in 2010 and a newly-renovated 16 operating room suite.
• The hospital is centrally located in the fastest growing county in the state of Tennessee on a beautiful 68-acre campus on the bustling "Medical Center Parkway" corridor with convenient access to dining and shopping areas.
• The hospital campus is currently undergoing a $110M expansion project, which includes the addition of 36 new high acuity beds, a parking garage dedicated to hospital employees and physicians, 18 new critical care unit beds, six additional NICU bassinets, 17 new post-surgery bays.
• The hospital is well known in the community for its women's services and well-established heart surgery program.
• Saint Thomas Health and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) have an established partnership in Middle Tennessee for training medical residents in a variety of specialties including internal medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and general surgery.

Responsibilities:

• Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.
• Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
• Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
• Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
• Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.
• Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
• Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
