Indirect Tax Accountant

Remote (Orange County-Based Healthcare Organization)

3-Month Contract Opportunity with possible extension

W2 Only | No C2C ArrangementsWe are partnering with a respected healthcare organization seeking an Indirect Tax Accountant for a 3-month contract engagement. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional with experience supporting indirect tax compliance, sales and use tax reporting, and multi-state tax requirements.The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently while contributing to critical tax and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
• Perform tax account reconciliations and prepare supporting schedules
• Research indirect tax matters and assist with tax compliance activities
• Support tax audits, notices, and information requests from tax authorities
• Review transactions for proper tax treatment and identify potential compliance risks
• Assist with monthly and quarterly tax-related close activities
• Maintain tax documentation and support process improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with accounting, finance, procurement, and operational teams on tax-related matters
• Assist with special projects and reporting requests as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field
• 3+ years of indirect tax, sales tax, or use tax experience
• Strong understanding of sales and use tax compliance requirements
• Experience working in a multi-state environment
• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a remote work environment

Preferred Experience

• Healthcare industry experience preferred
• Experience with ERP systems and tax reporting software
• Exposure to tax audits and regulatory inquiries
• Experience supporting large or complex organizations
