Histotechnologist (Histology Tech)

Location: Watertown, NY Contract Type: Travel Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 5x8 Days (start time 5:30am or 6:00am) Pay: $2,300/week Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)

ATC Healthcare is seeking a Histotechnologist for a 13-week travel assignment in a clinical laboratory setting. This role is responsible for the processing and preparation of surgical and autopsy tissue specimens for pathologist review. Duties include embedding, microtomy, staining, and cytology preparation, along with quality assurance and equipment maintenance. Candidates must meet New York state licensure requirements and applicable histology education or certification standards. Local candidates within the required radius are not eligible.

Key Responsibilities

• Process, embed, cut, and stain surgical and autopsy tissue specimens
• Prepare and stain cytopathology specimens
• Perform microtomy and slide preparation for pathologist interpretation
• Apply specialized histology staining techniques as required
• Maintain specimen integrity and accurate tissue handling
• Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures
• Maintain and troubleshoot histology equipment
• Manage laboratory supplies and reagents
• Follow laboratory safety and documentation standards

Qualifications

• New York State Histotechnician or Histotechnologist license required
• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related field or HTL certification required
• Histology lab experience required
• Experience with tissue processing, embedding, cutting, and staining required
• Knowledge of cytology preparation preferred
• Quality assurance experience preferred
• Must meet travel distance radius requirement
