Project Control Specialist

This posting is to build a candidate pool, should the opening(s) become available.*** Job Summary/Purpose Individual shall have demonstrated skill in project controls obtained through working on Utility Infrastructure projects. Supports Project Management team as needed to ensure successful execution of assigned projects by developing and maintaining project reporting, performing project assurance, and delivering cost and schedule certainty. Supports and provides guidance associated with the governance process for Entergy's Stage Gate Process (SGP) and project management standards ensuring standardization and continuous improvement in project delivery across Entergy's Business Units. Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project. Job Duties/Responsibilities Provides guidance in the various disciplines of project management and control by applying fundamental schedule and cost control techniques. Performs rigorous and independent project assessments of projects within Entergy's project portfolio to ensure compliance with Entergy's SGP and project management standards; serves as a SGP Gate Reviewer. Conducts training on the Entergy SGP, project management standards/implementation guides and various project controls disciplines, such as Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA). Assists in the performance of analysis, optimization, and reporting on Entergy project portfolio including assessments of risk associated with completing planned scopes of work according to multi-year budget plans. Support in the development and maintenance of project schedules, plans, and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Identify, analyze and document project schedule and cost variances between planned and earned/actual progress and conclude on possible impacts. Supports the SGP Gate Reviewer analysis by providing data on cost, schedule, progress, risk and processes. Provide analysis of contractor schedule data to identify key project issues, verify contractor progress, and review their performance trends; support Project Admin and Accounting in review of contractor’s invoices. Collaborates with the project manager and other project team members to identify, characterize and document project risks in a risk register and develops mitigation plans in accordance with the Standards. Takes direction and provides support from project leadership in order to ensure quality cost, schedule, risk management, change management, contract management and reporting. Facilitate and manage the Change Management process and document clearly throughout the project lifecycle; documents and tracks approved project changes. Implement best practices of project management and controls principles on projects of varying segmentations and types of contracts. Creates project portfolio performance metrics and reports performance. Work is performed in both an office setting and in field conditions. Minimum education required of the position Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management (or related field) OR 6 years equivalent/related work experience (in addition to the Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of a degree. Minimum experience required of the position 4 years minimum capital project management and/or project control experience with project controls focus. Utility capital project experience essential. Desired: Project controls experience on large scale capital projects. Desired: Experience of project controls implemented on projects executed under various types of contract agreements including EPC. Both contractor and owner construction project controls experience. Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position Behavioral Ability to work well in team environment, be a self-starter, and have a strong work ethic. Technical Able to create project and portfolio performance metrics using standardized project dashboards and reports. Utilize schedule software such as Primavera, Microsoft Project, Acumen Fuse, Risk Analysis. Assists in the performance of analysis, optimization, and reporting on Entergy project(s) including assessments of risk, cost, and schedule associated with completing planned scopes of work according to multi-year budget plans. Utilizes project management and project controls expertise as well as business acumen and experience to provide SME-level project management, controls, and business case guidance to project team members across Entergy’s business units. Demonstrable experience in working on construction site, engineering office, fabrication sites, etc. to support project teams. Demonstrates experience in working with EPC Contracts. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal skills. Functional Cost, Schedule, Reporting Change Management, Contract Management and Risk Management Skills. Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position Preferred: Certifications from PMI and/or AACEi Other Attributes Functional Knowledge: Requires comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within own discipline and knowledge of others. Working Conditions/Essential Functions/Physical Requirements Ability to perform field walkdown observations/inspection on foot across moderate to rough terrain. Ability to lift 25lbs overhead.
