Transition and College Access Center Borough Work-Based Learning Coordinator - 26518

Position Summary The Borough Work-Based Learning Coordinator will serve as point of contact for all work-based learning inquiries related to the TCAC. This position will support the implementation of work‑based learning programs, policies, and strategies related to strengthening student engagement and participation in the Training Opportunities Program, Summer Youth Employment Program, and other work‑based learning programs offered at the borough TCAC. The Coordinator will also coordinate all student work‑based learning internships between students’ schools and community organizations, local colleges, universities, businesses, and City agencies. Performs related work. Reports To Transition and College Access Center Borough Director Responsibilities Assist in the planning, implementation, and marketing of TCAC Work‑Based Learning Programs. Plan and assist in the development of the Work‑Based Learning Handbook. Conduct orientation for students and school‑based staff. Conduct professional development sessions with the TCAC Community Engagement Coordinator on trends in the workforce and training needs identified by the Work‑Based Learning site. Assist in training Summer Youth Employment Program site supervisors on policies and procedures. Monitor Training Opportunity Program work sites to ensure that quality training is taking place. Coordinate communication of Work‑Based Learning success stories with TCAC leadership. Work with School Safety Officers to ensure that all Work‑Based Learning sites are safe and in compliance with NYCPS policies. Ensure that all work positions are documented with a site agreement and that necessary signatures have been acquired. Provide student supervisors with current labor market information. Ensure that all documentation reflective of Work‑Based Learning assignment has been completed, including student applications, student timesheets, and work‑based learning inquiry emails. Coordinate transportation of students to work sites. Work towards meeting TCAC borough work‑based learning goals. Model appropriate employability skills for dress, language, and work habits. Continuously help students become more employable by providing up‑to‑date employment trends. Qualification Requirements Minimum Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or Education and/or experience equivalent to options (1) or (2). All candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in (1). Additional Qualifications: Ability to cultivate and maintain employer relationships with business and industry, with a particular focus on employers providing employment opportunity in various fields. Excellent spoken and written communication skills. Strong presentation and networking skills. Team player with a strong work ethic. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working with students or adults with disabilities, particularly in the area of job skill development. Collaborative approach to managing projects and activities. Self‑motivated, deadline‑oriented, and able to work independently and within teams. Knowledge and understanding of local family and community needs and concerns relating to employment and transitioning concerns for students with disabilities. Ability to manage multiple inquiries simultaneously. Customer service mindset and/or previous customer service experience. Ability to proactively and strategically work to resolve school concerns and inquiries relating to work‑based learning programs. Ability to build relationships with diverse constituencies. Well‑developed strategic thinking and planning skills. Strong attention to detail. Highly motivated, self‑directed team player with a history of success. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong computer skills and ability to input, track, and document information in an online database. Strong presentation and networking skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Access and/or similar programs.
