Registered Dental Assistant Floater

The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is responsible for assisting the dentist in patient care by discussing patients’ needs and concerns. The RDA performs duties such as preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist with restorative dentistry or oral surgery, preparing materials and equipment, taking x‑rays, assisting with laboratory work, and may also handle appointments, phone calls, supply ordering, and dental billing. Medical Technology knowledge. Bilingual English/Spanish required (reading, writing, speaking). Licensure Registered Dental Assistant license. CPR license. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Actively participate in the Perfect Patient Experience by focusing patients on optimal treatment while addressing individual concerns and promoting the dentist’s quality care. Maintain a clean, sterile, and calm environment so patients feel comfortable; prepare them for treatment and assist the dentist to enable efficient, high‑quality care. Obtain dental history and/or records from patients; review patient health history and care slips. Ensure health history is updated for all returning patients. Escort patients to/from the front desk and introduce them to the exit clerk. Prepare tray setups for dental procedures and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory. Complete x‑rays for adults and pediatric patients as appropriate. Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment. Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care. Prepare materials for making impressions and restorations. Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policy. Maintain all logs required for St. John’s dental equipment, complying with prescribed auditing tools. Perform monthly checks of the Emergency Medical Kit, oxygen tanks, and masks for adults and children. Maintain adequate inventory of dental supplies and place orders as needed. Demonstrate oral hygiene care procedures and techniques. Perform prophylaxis on children and apply fluoride treatment. Hand instruments and materials to the dentist as needed and keep the patient’s mouth dry and clear using suction or other devices. Record patient charting and all doctor notes on the treatment record; ensure the dentist signs the record consents and health history. Act in accordance with the applicable State’s Dental Auxiliaries. Clean each operatory in accordance with the American Dental Association guidelines. Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies). Input prescriptions and patient charting into the Electronic Health Record (EEHR). Attend meetings, trainings, and other work‑related events as needed.
