Lead Receptionist

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES


This job description is an addendum to the Receptionist job description.

Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Lead Receptionist takes a leadership role in the department, acting as a trainer, resource and mentor for other receptionists and staff.


GENERAL DUTIES

1. Demonstrates advanced skills in the use of the EMR; can teach EMR skills in all areas of practice.
2. Provide back-up support for the receptionist team.
3. Assist with the training and supervision of assigned receptionist staff.
4. Works collaboratively with clinic staff on programs to improve patient outcomes.
5. Assists in organizing and participating in quality improvement activities to improve systems/services.
6. Evaluate situations that may lead to errors or miscommunication and know how to correctly intervene and report.
7. Perform other administrative tasks and clinical care as assigned by the Clinic Manager.
8. Assist receptionist staff with issues, training, education, and mentoring.
9. Verify insurance and demographics with patient and collect any co-pay or balance due.
10. Run eligibility for upcoming appointments and complete confirmation calls within two days of the schedule appointment.
11. Answer patient questions and concerns regarding billing.
12. Collect and post payments according to patient accounts for co-pays and cash payments.

The expected salary range for this position is $23.00-26.00 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. 2 years experience as a receptionist or in a customer service-related field.
2. Ability to type 45 wpm.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

1. Familiarity with an electronic practice management (EMR) system.
2. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
