Top 3 Skill Sets:

• Strong PowerBI skills are an absolute MUST (great if they know Tableau and other, but they MUST have a strong background in PowerBI as they will be reverse engineering some dashboards and all our dashboards are in Power BI).
• Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases. This includes extensive experience with SQL.
• They must have experience compressing data

Third skill set:

• They need to discuss working experience with data visualization on their resume and not just data analytics.

Fourth skill set:

• Explanation as to how candidates have established their own requirements for the dashboard, with just basic direction from the business/IT teams.

Deal Breakers:

• Anyone with just a few years of experience probably won't be able to handle what we need.
• We aren't really looking for a strong data analyst, we are looking for someone strong in data visualization. So if the resume focuses on data analytics and doesn't mention visualization, they likely aren't the best fit.
• Must have experience with large datasets, as in hundreds of thousands of records. If they can't demonstrate that they have experience with large datasets, which can be challenging to work with, then they are not a good fit.

Day in the Life:

• 15-25% of the day will likely be meeting with the dev teams and business to understand what insight they are trying to gain.
• A large part of this is trying to extract what they want to see and getting a clear understanding of what they mean by generic teams, such as, show reliability of the system. (Probably 50 ways to measure reliability, so what do they mean by 'reliability').
• 25-50% of the day will be trying to source the data, and link the data sets, and compress the data.
• The rest of the time will be building dashboards in PowerBI.
• Will likely provide new versions of the dashboard multiple times a week.
• We also support multiple areas, so they might be working on Onboard WiFi or Notifications or Travel MBT or Seat

A Data Analyst interprets data and turns it into information which can offer ways to improve a business, thus affecting business decisions. Data Analysts gather information from various sources and interpret patterns and trends as such a Data Analyst job description should highlight the analytical nature of the role.
