the client seeks a president with the skill, vision, and commitment to lead a historic, principled university as a model of academic rigor, integrity, and civility. The role will guide an academic model centered on liberal arts education, including undergraduate programs delivered through distinct undergraduate divisions and a graduate school of law with an emphasis on experiential education. The client’s culture is grounded in honor, integrity, and civility, supported by a student-run honor system and a campus speaking tradition that encourages respectful engagement in everyday interactions and in the classroom. The president will also help sustain a commitment to freedom of expression by nurturing intellectual pluralism and supporting faculty-led initiatives that enable respectful debate on a wide range of topics, including the institution’s own history. The president will provide strategic leadership for a selective, high-performing academic community with strong student satisfaction and high retention and graduation outcomes. The role will oversee a strong focus on access and affordability, including need-blind undergraduate admissions and comprehensive financial support aimed at meeting students’ demonstrated needs, while maintaining momentum in both undergraduate and law school academic excellence and student achievement.
