City Attorney – City of Fort Myers, FL The City Attorney manages the activities of the City Attorney’s Office, serves as the legal advisor to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and all City departments, as well as to various boards and committees established by the Council. Responsibilities include supervising other attorneys, providing legal advice on matters such as growth management, land use, environmental, contractual, employment, historic preservation, utilities, litigation, and transactional law. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited college of law; and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible legal experience, with five (5) years in government law, civil practice, and the supervision of other attorneys. Must be a licensed member of the Florida Bar in good standing, preferably certified in City, County, Local Government Law. Preferred candidates will have served as a city/county attorney or assistant in a community of similar complexities. The starting salary is open and depends on qualifications.
