Network Security Engineer

Salary: $75,000 - 98,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a current interim Top Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain a final U.S. Government Top Secret clearance and qualify for SCI access.
• We require eligibility for, and the ability to obtain and maintain, the necessary security clearance and access approvals.
• We require five years of experience and a masters degree in computer science or engineering, or at least ten years of equivalent experience and a bachelors degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• We require experience configuring, designing, and maintaining Windows servers; designing, configuring, and testing PC and network software components in a laboratory setting; programming software and command-line interfaces; and deploying patch management and backup management solutions.
• We require fluency in VMware, C, C++, Objective-C, Java, communication protocol implementation, Wi‑Fi, RFID, Bluetooth, TCP/IP, VoIP, and Linux/Windows/OSX scripting.
• We require experience with commercial and government best practices for securing computers, networks, and mobile devices, as well as proficiency with major MS Windows applications.
• We require detailed knowledge of Android, iOS, and BlackBerry operating systems.
• We require understanding of system architecture, application design, and device management and deployment.
• We require knowledge of Active Directory Application Mode, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, and Online Certificate Status Protocol.
• We require knowledge of bandwidth utilization.

• We evaluate emerging technologies and identify potential security vulnerabilities associated with them.
• We help develop policies and guidelines for state-of-the-art equipment and its possible adoption within Department resources.
• We test software and hardware for network vulnerabilities.
• We work with a laboratory-focused local area network and design and deploy network and video infrastructure cabling.
• We analyze computer and network architectures to improve network performance, security, and laboratory testing capabilities.
• We document testing methods, results, and recommendations for senior Department of State managers in clear oral and written form.
• We troubleshoot a range of hardware and software issues quickly, even under tight time and resource constraints.
• We research, test, review, and report on emerging technologies.
