Principal Design Verification Engineer

Principal Design Verification Engineer LivaNova is a global medtech company committed to creating innovative solutions that improve patient outcomes. This role contributes to the development and commercialization of medical device products by applying advanced design verification and quality engineering principles. Responsibilities Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and internal/external stakeholders to meet project objectives. Lead, develop, and execute design verification strategy for hardware and software across multiple functions and third‑party partners to demonstrate that product design outputs meet design inputs. Develop and execute test protocols and reports with a primary focus on system integration. Identify, procure, set up, and validate test equipment and fixtures to support the design verification strategy. Identify and implement test automation opportunities based on cost‑benefit considerations. Assess impact of design changes and execute a regression test strategy to demonstrate product safety and performance. Investigate, plan, implement, and lead the disposition of defects, non‑conformance investigations, Corrective Actions, Preventive Actions, and/or Change Control. Meet LivaNova Innovation milestones including project schedule and budget, provide periodic progress reports, and own issue resolution in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Comply with LivaNova Quality Management System procedures and applicable regulations and standards, ensuring that quality records are maintained. Contribute to preparation of registration dossiers for timely approval and defend deliverables to internal or external auditors. Support the intellectual property position of the company by recording and submitting invention proposals. Maintain a daily high level of integrity and promote a diverse and inclusive workplace culture consistent with LivaNova values. Qualifications Verification Engineer, Design Verification Engineer, Systems Verification Engineer, Test Engineer, or Systems Test Engineer experience in medical device product development. Familiarity with 21 CFR 820.30, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601‑1, IEC 62304, and associated processes. Test method/equipment development and validation, test automation or requirement management applications required. Software testing experience (mobile, cloud, web browsers) and working knowledge of Git and Object‑Oriented Programming (e.g., C/C++/C#, Java, Python). Preferred experience with active implantables for neuromodulation and verification of complex electro‑mechanical‑software systems. Experience with Change Control, Non‑Conformance, Corrective Action, and Preventive Action procedures. Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent. Preferred degree fields: Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Compensation Annual base salary estimate: $150,000 – $175,000 plus discretionary annual bonus. Salary ranges may vary by location and are awarded based on experience. Location & Travel Clear Lake (Southeast Houston, TX area).
