Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) specialty position is located in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves providing patient care within the PACU environment, supporting adult and pediatric surgical cases, and managing recovery of patients from anesthesia. The position requires working in a dynamic setting with rotating shifts, primarily Monday through Friday days, with potential rotations to weekends and nights as needed.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating schedule, primarily Monday through Friday dayshifts; may rotate to weekends and night shifts as needed.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, ACLS, BLS Certification, PALS; minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior PACU experience, especially in level 1 trauma PACU, is preferred.
• Additional Information:
  • Patient ratios are 1:3 in Pre-op, 1:2 in PACU, and 1:3 in Phase II.
  • Shifts for PACU start at 0730, 0800, 0830, 0900, 0930, or 1000.
  • Call response time is 1 hour and varies between 20-24 hours per month; staff select their own call shifts.
  • May float to other Pre/Post departments within the hospital.
  • Unit includes 20 PACU beds and 24 Phase II bays, with staff rotating across units.
  • Experience with EMR (EPIC), ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and recovery of ICU patients in PACU is required.
  • Typical staff includes 5 PCAs in Pre-op, 2 in PACU, and 2 in Phase II.
  • Unit/Department specific orientation includes one day each for Pre-op, PACU, and Phase II.
