Full Time / Permanent Opportunity Job Description Material Handler – 1st Shift at Pennsylvania Steel Company, Birmingham, AL Pennsylvania Steel Company is a leading distributor of steel and aluminum. Pennsylvania Steel Company has been in business since 1972 and has expanded to 11 locations, becoming one of the largest Steel Service Centers in the eastern United States. Location: 4230 1st Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35222 Shift: First – Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Main Duties / Responsibilities Perform various physical tasks related to work order fulfillment involving order pulling, material handling, and packaging. Handle various types of metals by hand or via material handling equipment. Maintain a clean and safe workspace and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures. Other assignments as directed. Required Experience and Skills Proficient in Windows‑based software. Working knowledge of decimals and fractions. Proficient in measuring via tape measure and micrometers. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work safely in an environment with machinery, overhead cranes, and moving equipment. Ability to work a full shift on your feet with little stationary time. Agility required to climb stairs, ladders, and access forklifts and truck beds. Medium/heavy manual work involving handling over 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally. Tolerance of temperature extremes encountered inside and outside an open warehouse environment. Benefits Competitive hourly wages based upon experience.
