Registered Nurse (RN) | 5N Med/Surg | PT Nights

About the Role We are seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver and coordinate nursing care for patients within a multidisciplinary team on a 42‑bed Medical/Surgical unit at Methodist University Hospital. The RN will provide compassionate, patient‑centered care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support families through emotional challenges. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments to determine appropriate interventions and develop individualized care plans. Provide patient and family education on care plans, medications, and self‑care strategies. Develop, implement, and adjust personalized patient care plans based on ongoing clinical assessments. Administer medications safely, following best practices in medication management. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high‑quality patient care. Education & Training Required: Associate’s Degree Nursing. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree Nursing. Education and formal training are required to hold an RN license. Experience Required: Registered Nurse with 0–1 year of experience. Preferred: Clinical nursing experience of 1–3 years. Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse, Tennessee. Basic Life Support – American Heart Association. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive understanding of patient care, including thorough assessments using the nursing process. Strong knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and RN scope of practice. Ability to process complex clinical information, use critical thinking, and develop individualized care plans. Effective delegation to team members for collaborative care. Familiarity with healthcare technology (e.g., bar‑code scanning, electronic health records). Physical Demands Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. force occasionally or 25 lbs. force frequently. Requires good balance, coordination, and visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision. Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. Work Environment The unit is a collaborative, team‑driven environment with a supportive culture, positive attitudes, and commitment to excellence.
