Allen & Major Associates is looking for an experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our Woburn team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of field survey work, lead a crew, work with modern survey technology, and collaborate with experienced civil engineering and surveying professionals.

Our projects include retail, multifamily residential, commercial, medical/institutional, mixed-use, municipal, and land development projects throughout New England.

What You'll Do

As a Survey Crew Chief, you'll lead field crews and perform a variety of land surveying and construction support work, including:

• Supervise crew members and coordinate daily field assignments
• Perform boundary reconnaissance, property line surveys, topographic surveys, and site control
• Perform construction layout and staking
• Support ALTA/NSPS and existing conditions surveys
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and construction site supervisors
• Review plans, field notes, exhibits, and survey data
• Perform calculations related to construction staking and field survey work
• Operate robotic and conventional total stations, GPS/RTK equipment, data collectors, and levels
• Upload and download field data and maintain survey equipment
• Train and mentor survey crew members
• Maintain survey vehicles, equipment, tools, and supplies
• Work independently when needed, including as a one-person crew
• Represent A&M professionally with clients, contractors, and the public

What We're Looking For

• 3–5+ years of land surveying field experience
• Strong understanding of land surveying principles and field procedures
• Experience with robotic total stations and data collectors
• Experience with GPS/RTK equipment and automatic levels
• Experience with construction staking, boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, or site development surveys
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to lead a crew while maintaining quality and productivity
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
• Valid Massachusetts driver's license
• Ability to travel to project sites throughout MA, RI, CT, and NH
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and physical conditions
• Willingness to work overtime and travel overnight when required
