Physician - Newborn Medicine

Description The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Newborn Medicine at UC San Diego Health Jacobs Medical Center is seeking a pediatric hospitalist to provide patient care on the Newborn Service. Clinicians should be board certified pediatricians with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in general pediatrics. Those with qualifying expertise may inquire about opportunities for a faculty position and/or a combined position in the Academic General Pediatrics section. Future increase in FTE is possible. Pay scale depends on years of experience. Patient care on the Newborn Service is provided by a team of faculty pediatricians, pediatric hospitalists, pediatric nurse practitioners, and trainees. The role includes direct patient care, supervision of nurse practitioners, residents, and medical students, trainee education, multidisciplinary collaboration, quality improvement projects, and participation in division/section correspondence and meetings. Minimum Qualifications Board certified pediatrician with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in general pediatrics. Prior experience caring for newborns during birth hospitalization, stabilizing sick infants, and neonatal resuscitation. Special Conditions Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges, including a current California medical license without probation or restrictions. Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call, and locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center's business needs. This position requires working two weekend days per month and several holidays per year. Life‑Support Certifications Applicants must hold current BLS, NRP, ACLS, or equivalent certifications, including hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
