Background checks: must pass a SLED background investigation and a DMV records check. License: commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger, air brake, and federal school bus endorsements. Training and certification: complete 20 hours of classroom instruction and pass a State Department of Education certification test; complete on-the-road training and a driving evaluation. Physical and safety requirements: pass a physical assessment and submit to random monthly drug screening; maintain proficiency with at least 10 hours of annual training.
