Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide comprehensive nursing care within a correctional healthcare setting under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), physician, or other authorized healthcare provider. The LPN will be responsible for medication administration, bedside patient care, clinical observations, documentation, and assisting with specialized nursing procedures while ensuring compliance with New York State nursing standards, facility policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), physician, or other authorized healthcare provider. • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established nursing protocols. • Deliver bedside nursing care, including procedures requiring sterile techniques and infection prevention practices. • Observe, assess, measure, document, and report changes in patient health status, vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment. • Assist with patient examinations, treatments, and routine nursing procedures. • Perform specialized nursing procedures, including catheterizations and suctioning, in accordance with training and facility protocols. • Perform intravenous (IV) therapy and other advanced nursing procedures as permitted with appropriate training and competency validation. • Administer blood and blood products in accordance with facility policies and clinical guidelines. • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation and medical records. • Collaborate with Registered Nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support continuity of patient care. • Maintain infection prevention and control standards throughout patient care activities. • Assist in maintaining medical supplies and equipment necessary for daily healthcare

operations. • Perform additional nursing duties as assigned to support facility healthcare services.

Work Schedule & Conditions
• Various shifts available:
• 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
• 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
• 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM • Overtime: Required as needed • Travel: Not required • Holidays: Required to work New York State holidays as scheduled

• Green Haven Correctional Facility provides comprehensive healthcare services within a secure correctional environment. • Licensed Practical Nurses work collaboratively with Registered Nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care. • The position requires professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to work effectively within a structured correctional healthcare setting.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Valid and current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of New York required. • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience following licensure required. • Strong knowledge of medication administration, bedside nursing care, sterile techniques, and patient assessment. • Experience in correctional healthcare, medical-surgical, long-term care, behavioral health, rehabilitation, or acute care settings preferred. • Ability to perform specialized nursing procedures, including catheterizations, suctioning, and blood product administration. • IV therapy experience or willingness to perform IV therapy with appropriate training preferred. • Excellent communication, organizational, documentation, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work effectively under the supervision of an RN or physician while maintaining high standards of patient care. • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, regulatory compliance, and professional nursing standards.

Background Check Requirements
• Must successfully complete all facility-required background investigations, credential verification, and security clearances prior to assignment.

Vaccination & Medical Requirements
• Must meet all facility-required medical clearance and health screening requirements prior to assignment.

Required Training
• Facility-specific orientation and mandatory correctional healthcare training will be provided prior to the start of the assignment.

Additional Information
• One (1) Licensed Practical Nurse position is available. • Candidates must be available to work any assigned shift based on facility operational needs. • Overtime may be required to ensure adequate staffing and continuity of patient care. • The selected candidate will work in a secure correctional healthcare environment and must comply with all facility security procedures and professional practice standards. • Additional responsibilities and facility-specific expectations will be discussed during the interview and onboarding process.
