Comfy Cubs is a growing baby products company selling through Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, Target, and wholesale channels. We’re seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our accounting function, strengthen financial processes, and provide ownership with clear, reliable financial reporting.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, inventory accounting, cash flow management, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling detailed accounting work while helping management understand financial performance and plan for growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and oversee full-cycle accounting.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate reconciliation of marketplace payouts and wholesale revenue, including fees, returns, deductions, and chargebacks.
• Manage inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, landed costs, freight, duties, and inventory adjustments.
• Partner with purchasing and warehouse teams to reconcile inventory records and investigate discrepancies.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and budget-to-actual reporting.
• Analyze product and channel profitability, margins, and operating expenses.
• Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting procedures, and payment approval processes.
• Coordinate with external accountants on tax filings, sales tax matters, and year-end reporting.
• Guide bookkeeping staff and review their work for accuracy and completeness.
• Improve accounting systems and workflows to support business growth.
• Present financial results and recommendations clearly to ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or comparable accounting lead.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and full-cycle accounting.
• Hands-on experience with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and landed costs.
• Experience with Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, Target, or similar sales channels
• Experience in e-commerce, wholesale, retail, or consumer products.
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to independently manage accounting operations and meet reporting deadlines.
• CPA designation preferred.

Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000
