Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in telemetry nursing License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: Telemetry experience Knowledge of chest tubes Dysthymia training Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in a telemetry unit. The unit has 36 beds with a patient ratio of 4:1 for cath recovery and a maximum of 6:1. Occasionally, the ratio may go up to 7:1. Staffing includes Patient Care Technicians and Unit Clerks primarily on the day shift. The equipment includes remote telemetry monitors and Alaris pumps. The documentation system used is Meditech. Every other weekend is a scheduling requirement. Agency floats will be utilized first and may involve floating to other units. Patient experience is a priority with a target for a 75% satisfaction rate. Procedures performed on the unit include chest tube insertions, bedside paracentesis, and thoracentesis. The dress code requires scrubs, except camo. Unit-specific policies include telemetry monitoring and stroke policies. The unit has received recognition for outstanding performance with awards held by staff members.
