With more than 500 physicians representing virtually every specialty, HPMC strives to distinguish itself as a leading healthcare provider, recognized for providing quality, innovative care in a compassionate manner.HPMC is part of a global healthcare enterprise which owns and operates general hospitals throughout Korea, numerous research centers in the U.S. and Korea including a medical university, and CHAUM (a premier anti-aging life center).Major Responsibilities/Essential FunctionsThe primary job duties this position is responsible for achieving are listed in order of importance.Performs all necessary ophthalmic tests and patient work-up in order for the medical staff to diagnose a patient problem.Assists with special procedures and minor surgeryProvides direct patient care on assigned service.Participates in patient care on other services when assigned service not in session, or as requested by the department administrator.Serves in a liaison or triage capacity between the physician and patient to answer questions, coordinate care or provide patient education.Assists in the orientation of technical staff, residents and fellows who rotate through the service.Participates in and supports continuous improvement activities such as continuous improvement teams and educational sessions.Ensures that patient preparation and paperwork is complete for pre op patients as required.Performs various administrative duties as assigned such as ordering of supplies and medication. Ensures rooms are stocked daily with medications and ophthalmic supplies.Participates in community outreach activities such as vision screenings and promotional activities to support new business development.Ensures confidentiality of all records and information related to patients, physicians, employees, the organization and in related interests.Complies with all policies, procedures, regulatory and legal requirements as applicable.Performs all tasks in a safe manner in compliance with safety policies and according to applicable regulations. Maintains a neat workstation and environment.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The organization reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.Minimum Work Experience and QualificationsBasic Qualifications:Minimum five (5) or more years work experience, or 5 years certified as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).Ophthalmic technical experience in a clinical setting.Thorough knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and tests.Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology and protocols.Knowledge in administering diagnostic tests.Knowledge of specialized equipment and instruments.Job QualificationsMinimum EducationHigh School Diploma or GED EquivalentPreferred EducationCertified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT), Certified Orthoptist (CO).Minimum Work Experience and QualificationsKnowledge of medical terminology.Ophthalmic technical experience in a clinical settingRequired Licensure, Certification, Registration or DesignationCertified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Fire Card (LAFD Certified)Shift: Day Hours: 8 Shift Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Weekly Hours: 8 Type: Full-Time FTE: 1.0
