Through advanced materials processing and precision manufacturing capabilities, Elmet produces high-performance products for some of the world's most demanding applications.Our Lewiston, Maine facility is focused on operational excellence, customer delivery, and continuously improving how we plan and execute production across a complex manufacturing environment.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Production Planner to join our Logistics & Planning team at our Lewiston, Maine facility.Reporting to the Director of Planning, the Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that align customer demand with manufacturing capacity, material availability, and operational priorities. This position manages the flow of work-in-process and finished products to help ensure customer commitments and production objectives are achieved.The Production Planner will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, and Finance to identify potential schedule constraints, resolve material or capacity issues, and continuously improve manufacturing performance.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain production schedules for make-to-stock and make-to-order products using ERP/MRP systemsEvaluate customer demand, production capacity, material availability, and labor requirements to establish manufacturing prioritiesCreate, release, and manage production work orders while monitoring progress against established schedulesIdentify schedule risks, material shortages, capacity constraints, and production backlogs and develop recovery plans as neededMaintain accurate ERP/MRP data, including inventory balances, bills of material, routings, and product master informationPartner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Commercial teams to resolve scheduling issues and support on-time deliveryAnalyze production and inventory data to identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce lead times, and optimize resource utilizationSupport continuous improvement of factory planning processes, production reporting, and manufacturing performanceWhat Success Looks LikeProduction schedules accurately reflect customer demand and manufacturing capabilitiesImproved on-time delivery and schedule adherenceProduction constraints and material shortages identified and addressed proactivelyAccurate work orders, inventory information, and ERP/MRP dataEffective communication of production priorities across departmentsReduced backlogs and improved flow of material through manufacturingData-driven improvements to planning and production performanceIdeal Candidate ProfileAssociate or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered2+ years of production planning, scheduling, buying/planning, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment preferredStrong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, including extracting, analyzing, and maintaining system dataAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience analyzing and manipulating production dataUnderstanding of manufacturing principles, capacity planning, inventory management, and production schedulingKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Theory of Constraints is a plusStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple departments and levels of the organizationAPICS certification or similar supply chain certification preferredWhy Join Elmet TechnologiesBenefits starting from day 1, including medical, dental, and vision insurancePlay a key role in coordinating production for a complex advanced manufacturing operationWork directly with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Commercial teamsOpportunity to improve production flow, customer delivery, inventory performance, and planning processesGain exposure to manufacturing serving aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and energy industriesCompetitive compensation, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, tuition assistance, and professional development opportunitiesEqual Employment Opportunity StatementThe Elmet Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a proud federal contractor.
