Mission Context

LV8D Solutions supports national security space and intelligence customers delivering next-generation sensing and exploitation capabilities. The role of Penetration Tester (Pen Tester)* is a security professional who reviews and evaluates Information Systems (ISs) and recommends changes to the Government that can improve information confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Position Overview

LV8D Solutions is seeking a Pen Tester to perform security focused services to improve the security posture of ISs. Pen Testers review and write Information Security Action Plans (ISAPs) and Technical Information System Security Requirements (TISSRs). The Pen Tester shall conduct testing approved by the Government and write a report with all applicable findings. The report shall follow a template that shall be created, maintained, and updated by the Pen Tester with Government approval.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing basic reconnaissance and vulnerability scanning in accordance with established testing methodologies
• Identifies common vulnerabilities that can be potentially exploited, documents and reports findings
• Designs and conducts penetration tests, exploring more complex vulnerability analysis including misconfigurations and zero-day exploits, and developing exploitation techniques
• Provides technical guidance to stakeholders
• Develops customized tools and methodologies
• Provides expert guidance on security best practices; identifying vulnerabilities, providing strategic security advice, and leading remediation efforts; collaborating with management to develop security policies, training other cybersecurity professionals, and staying abreast of emerging threats

Pen Tester, Level 1 (Junior) Functional Description: Responsible for performing basic reconnaissance and vulnerability scanning in accordance with established testing methodologies; identifies common vulnerabilities that can be potentially exploited, documents and reports findings.

Pen Tester, Level 2 (Intermediate) Functional Description: In addition to achieved duties described in Level 1, the Pen Tester is responsible for conducting more complex penetration tests, exploring more complex vulnerability analysis including misconfigurations and zero-day exploits, and developing more sophisticated exploitation techniques. Leads penetration tests, mentoring junior testers, and providing technical guidance to stakeholders.

Pen Tester, Level 3 (Senior) Functional Description: In addition to achieved duties described in Level 2, the Pen Tester is responsible for designing and leading complex penetration tests, develops customized tools and methodologies; providing expert guidance on security best practices; identifying complex vulnerabilities, providing strategic security advice, and leading remediation efforts; collaborating with management to develop security policies, training other cybersecurity professionals, and staying abreast of emerging threats.

Required Qualifications

• Possess scripting abilities and an understanding of network fundamentals and vulnerability scanning tools
• Possess expertise in network protocols, application security, social engineering, and scripting
• Possess knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, industry standards, and advanced security tools

Pen Tester, Level 1

• Possess basic scripting abilities and an understanding of network fundamentals and vulnerability scanning tools.
• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher and 0-2 years of relevant experience

Pen Tester, Level 2

• Possess expertise in network protocols, application security, social engineering, and advanced scripting.

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher and 3 years of relevant experience

Pen Tester, Level 3

• Possess extensive knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, industry standards, and advanced security tools.

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher and 4 years of relevant experience

Security Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
• Active Counterintelligence (CI) or Full Scope (FS) Polygraph

Work Environment

• On-site work in a government or contractor facility 
• Occasional travel (up to 10%)
