Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA I)Location: 1 Opening in West PascoHours: PRN (As-Needed)The Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA I) is responsible for providing advanced chairside support to dentists while helping deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality dental care. This position performs expanded functions during restorative and surgical procedures, prepares treatment rooms, takes radiographs and digital scans, educates patients on oral health, and ensures a positive patient experience.The EFDA works collaboratively with dentists and the dental care team to support clinical excellence while promoting Premier Community HealthCare's mission of providing accessible, compassionate care to the communities we serve.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Provide advanced chairside assistance during restorative, prosthetic, and oral surgery proceduresPrepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment according to established clinical standardsAssist with impressions, evacuation, tissue retraction, cementation, hemostasis, and other expanded functions within scope of practiceTake dental radiographs and digital scans while following all safety and infection control protocolsPrepare and mix dental materials for clinical proceduresVerify completion of patient consent forms prior to treatmentTrack laboratory cases and process related documentationReview patient charts for completeness, referrals, radiographs, and treatment documentationCommunicate scheduling delays and assist with patient flow throughout the clinicAssist chairside during administration of nitrous oxide when appropriately certifiedEducate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-treatment instructionsMaintain sterilization of instruments, operatories, and equipment in accordance with infection prevention standardsEnsure HIPAA compliance and maintain patient confidentiality at all timesParticipate in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance (QI/QA) initiatives and support departmental goalsSupport community outreach activities and perform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of dental and medical terminology and electronic medical record (EMR) documentationUnderstanding of dental procedures requiring referrals and pre-authorizationsAbility to perform expanded dental assisting functions safely and accuratelyStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExceptional customer service with empathy and compassion for diverse patient populationsAbility to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team membersStrong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conductCommitment to Premier Community HealthCare's mission, vision, and valuesQualifications:High School Diploma or GED requiredCurrent Florida Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification requiredGraduate of an American Dental Association (ADA)-accredited Dental Assisting ProgramCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredNitrous Oxide/Oxygen Analgesia monitoring certification preferredAbility to obtain and maintain Epic certification and complete annual compliance trainingWorking Conditions & Physical Requirements:Ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly and 30–50 lbs. occasionallyAbility to sit for extended periodsAbility to travel between Premier Community HealthCare sites as neededDirect exposure to computer screensPossible exposure to contagious or infectious diseasesBackground Screening Requirement:This position requires a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.Applicants may review information regarding the background screening process, disqualifying offenses, and applicant rights by visiting the AHCA Background Screening Education and Awareness webpage:
