Job Description Job Description Maintenance Engineer The Maintenance Engineer performs repairs and preventive maintenance on a wide range of building systems in a high-rise residential environment. This role supports day-to-day building operations and responds to maintenance needs with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and customer service. Responsibilities Perform daily building tours to monitor system performance Inspect equipment and identify potential operational issues Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and building systems Replace components, adjust and replace belts, and lubricate equipment Respond to work order requests from residents and management Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, steam, and mechanical systems Provide professional, courteous customer service to residents Assist HVAC engineers, plumbers, and general services staff as needed Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or Management Systems & Technical Experience Plumbing Electrical HVAC Steam systems Mechanical systems (pumps, motors, hot water heaters) BAS/BMS systems Qualifications Minimum of 3years of experience in building maintenance or facilities operations Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize multiple work orders Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Professional demeanor and positive attitude Trade certifications a plus Schedule & Physical Requirements Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays Reliable transportation for emergency response Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach frequently Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs Pre-Employment Requirements Ability to pass a criminal background check Ability to pass a drug test Company Description Overview of The Westchester: Built in 1931 on one of the highest points in the city, The Westchester is a five-building, self-governing, member-owner co-op community that houses more than 500 apartments ranging in size from studios to three bedrooms.
