Sales Consultant

Create sales by delivering exceptional customer service and deep product knowledge of La‑Z‑Boy’s furniture, accessories, and services. Build long‑term relationships that increase sales and profitability. Key Responsibilities Drive sales and contribute to store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories, and services. Promote the Design program and support the Design Manager in achieving established design sales goals. Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process and provide a favorable experience to all customers. Develop and utilize sales skills and principles, including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, objection handling, closing, follow‑up, after‑sale service, and continued contact. Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs. Maintain strong knowledge of existing and new product lines. Schedule professional home consultations and present customized room designs, including sample fabrics, furniture, tables, and accessories, and the benefits of professional installation services. Execute and champion the Design process following company guidelines. Support design‑related functions in the store. Provide the highest level of customer service, ensuring each customer has an informative and positive experience. Use Podium to maintain customer satisfaction and forward‑look follow‑up. Make sound business decisions to deliver customer satisfaction and promote a team environment. Respond to incoming phone calls and emails, handle customer issues, and provide solutions to achieve satisfied experiences. Maintain a positive working relationship with all store employees. Assist in training, coaching, and developing peers on product knowledge and selling processes. Champion a culture of sales and service. Assist with visual merchandising, tagging products, maintaining accessory catalogs, design center fabrics, floor moves, and general store cleanliness. Accurately complete order information, collect deposits, keep orderly customer records, and research payments and deliveries. Complete daily On‑Point system logs. Schedule deliveries with customers and maintain effective communication. Open and close the store as required. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous selling experience and a demonstrated ability to close a sale strongly preferred. Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build rapport and positively influence. Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively manage time and conflicting priorities. Collaborative team player. Willingness to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Self‑motivated, detail‑orientated, and proactive in meeting goals. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods. Ability to pass a background and drug screen. Preferred Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field. Pay Training Pay: $15 per hour for 2‑6 weeks (no commissions). Post‑Training Base Pay: $12 per hour (varies by store location). Uncapped commissions on written sales, ranging from 1–6% of monthly sales, increasing with performance. Average annual earnings after training: $55,000 – $75,000+ (base plus commission). Company guarantees compliance with state/local minimum wage requirements. Weekly hours: 40.
