Environmental Scientist - Geologist

Job Description Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking a Geologist/Environmental Scientist to join our growing environmental team in our Toledo, OH or Detroit (Wixom), MI office. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects supporting solid waste, industrial, energy, public sector, and redevelopment clients across the region. You'll gain hands‑on experience in environmental site investigation, compliance, and remediation while continuing to grow your technical skills and progress toward professional licensure. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field 5+ years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or related work GIT certification (or ability to obtain) with interest in pursuing PG licensure Experience with environmental site assessments (Phase I/II ESAs) and soil/groundwater investigations Familiarity with environmental compliance programs, including landfill monitoring and/or SPCC Experience with Sanitas, Dumpstat, and database management/development a plus Strong technical writing, data management, and communication skills Responsibilities Support and execute environmental site investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling and data collection Participate in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and due diligence projects Assist with landfill environmental compliance monitoring programs, including sampling, data management, and reporting Support remediation activities, including source removal and system monitoring Prepare technical reports, documentation, and regulatory submittals Assist with SPCC plan development, stormwater permitting, and air compliance support Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support project objectives Provide oversight and guidance to junior staff and field activities as needed Support multiple projects while maintaining quality and schedule expectations What We Offer 100% employee‑owned firm with a path to long‑term growth and ownership access within your first year Competitive compensation with multiple income streams, including paid overtime, performance bonuses, and stock ownership 55% of profits distributed through employee bonuses A clearly defined career path with mentorship and support toward licensure Opportunity to work on a diverse project portfolio across multiple industries Flexible and hybrid work schedule options Comprehensive benefits starting day one (healthcare, dental, vision), along with a 401(k) with a company match beginning the first of the month following your start date A collaborative environment that encourages learning, cross‑training, and professional development Equal Opportunity Employer CEC is an equal opportunity employer.
