About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS preferred Must-Have: Experience with vent management and medication titration. Experience with art lines and central lines. Preferred experience with CRRT, EVD, and ICP monitoring. Description: Nurse to patient ratios are 1:2-3. Must be comfortable with titrating all common ICU drips. Charge nurse is present 24/7 and ideally does not take patients, but will if necessary. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are staffed, with a potential ratio of 1:17 or up to 2 CNAs for 17 patients if feasible. A hospitalist is available 24/7 along with tele-ICU support after hours for pulmonary care. All common respiratory therapy equipment is available in the ICU, managed by respiratory therapy. There are central monitors on the unit and in rooms, with Phillips monitors in use. Registered Nurses are required to know EKG rhythms and assess the need for intervention when necessary. Shifts are 12 hours, from 7 AM to 7:30 PM, and 7 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required. Expected to float throughout the facility, except for emergency and obstetric departments. Professional scrubs of any color are acceptable, with specific scrubs provided when caring for burn patients. Unit-specific orientation involves 1-2 shifts. The charting system used is Epic. This position is within an acute care setting.
