Certified Pharmacy Technician

This position assists the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and performs other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, coaching pharmacy technicians, and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Customer Experience Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Model customer service best practices and Walgreens service traits such as offering help proactively, identifying needs, and servicing until satisfied. Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers. Operations Assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision, complying with state, federal, and company policy. Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct. Use pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verify medicine correctness, and check for interactions. Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow. Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to policies related to pharmacy errors and Quality Improvement Program. Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing. Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash, and assist customers to the OTC aisle when possible. Handle telephone calls that do not require personal pharmacist attention, including calls to physicians. Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services promptly and perform other clerical duties as assigned. Support pharmacy inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and filing claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods involving prescription drugs. Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients, and coordinate clinic services. Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with the local medical community through provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, and nursing homes. Assist with interior and exterior maintenance to keep the pharmacy stocked, clean, neat, and orderly. Maintain adherence to all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers. Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned. Training & Personal Development Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program. Attend training, complete PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to maintain up‑to‑date knowledge in healthcare and pharmacy. Basic Qualifications Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment. Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens. Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling. Prefer good computer skills. Prefer knowledge of store inventory control. Prefer PTCB certification. We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
