Summary About the Position: This position is located at DoWEA Headquarters in Alexandria, VA. This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy. - Increase awareness and understanding of DoDEA within internal and external audiences to enhance and support student learning and achievement.
- Program, initiate and direct a transparent, two-way internal and external communication program to meet a variety of information needs in agreement with the overall mission and policies of DoWEA and the DoW.
- Perform a full range of first-level supervisory responsibilities; plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- Maintain a continual awareness of changes in Public Affairs needs and Strategic Communications needs and shifts emphasis as necessitated by unexpected public reaction to a particular program or event.
- Plan a world-wide information program, conducting appropriate research and participating in the formulation of plans and policies to assure direct consideration of public information and public relations implications of planned actions.
- Advise senior leaders and staff on all matters involving public issues and the development of communication policy.

- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One year trial or probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- One year supervisory probation period may be required.
- This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
