DutiesThe operational groups focus on the key daily mission of providing second level engineering support and serve as the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) for assigned commissioned National Airspace System (NAS) systems. The services support the safety mission within the FAA Administrator’s Strategic Plans and Goals.This incumbent of this position serves as an IT Specialist (Systems Analysis) and could be assigned to any one of the key functional areas within the Communications, Flight Service & Weather Engineering Group, which are Systems Requirements; Program Management; Design & Development; Mission Support; Site Support; Test; and Field Automation Support.Supports analysis of change vehicles and evaluate and manage Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) / Commercially Available (CAS) products.Provides recommendations and approaches on when and how COTS or CAS products need to be integrated into the support of an operational environment.Provides recommendations to team leader or project lead on how to test these products and strategies to address field concerns once products are deployed.Upon management approval of engineering, site support, or test projects, determines, within given requirements and constraints of system/software assigned a design strategy that attempts to anticipate directions of change in workload and legislative requirements in order to accommodate changes efficiently.Supports the development of overall plans, criteria, and system specifications; and presents briefings and recommendations concerning long-term objective to management.Authors or updates documents such as National Change Proposals (NCPs), System Engineering Documents (SEDs), System Support Directives (SSDs), or any other engineering and technical documents.Author or updates Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP). QualificationsTo qualify for this position at the FV-I (FG/GS-13) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H (FG/GS-10-12). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized Experience: with HW/SW/Testing of systems that use Voice Switching.Applicants should include examples of Specialized Experience in their work history.ANDExperience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
