Resident Engineer

We are seeking a qualified Resident Engineer with Electrical PE to support transportation infrastructure projects in Walnut Creek, California. The RE will supervise the planning, coordination, and implementation of Electrical related transportation construction projects. This position requires full‑time presence at the jobsite. Limited remote work flexibility may be considered, but is not guaranteed. Candidates with prior transit, rail, public agency, or infrastructure experience are highly preferred. Previous BART experience is strongly desired. Key Responsibilities Work as lead Construction Management resource to coordinate and oversee the development and construction of transportation projects. Work collaboratively with multiple and apply appropriate communication techniques to achieve project objectives. Drive resolution and oversight of design issues, daily reports, change orders, preventing or negotiating claims, and preparation of monthly progress estimates. Effectively perform field inspections, perform contract oversight, provide construction documentation, conduct progress meetings, prepare quantity estimates, prepare change orders, and avoidance/resolution of claims in accordance with client manuals. Develop, prepare and present reports, proposals, and memos. Perform other duties as needed The Day to Day Behaviors of the Role Have genuine care about people; always available and ready to help. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, electrical engineering project management, construction support, or related infrastructure projects. Registered Engineer (PE) registration in the State of California. Knowledge of electrical engineering design principles, electrical systems, equipment, and construction practices. Familiarity with engineering cost estimating, field testing, inspections, and project documentation. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and technical reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Preferred Experience with traction power systems, utility power systems, transit facilities, or transportation infrastructure. Experience with public agencies, transit authorities, or large infrastructure owners. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations, building codes, and industry standards. Experience performing field inspections, construction oversight, and contractor coordination. Additional Information Must be physically capable of performing field inspections and site investigations. Occasional evening, night, or weekend work may be required to support project and construction activities. Work is performed in office, field, and active construction environments with exposure to varying weather conditions and electrical equipment.
