Use professional judgment to deliver imaging services, applying X‑ray technology for patients of all ages. Perform medical assistant duties under a provider after training – a strong opportunity to expand your skill set. Daily Expectations Teleradiology reads all imaging. Work varies; not the same tasks all day. No fluoroscopy studies. No operating room cases. No unit portables. No on‑call or overnight shifts. Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers and/or medical assistants during the examination and treatment of UPMC‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The RT performs and analyzes patient X‑rays, reports results to medical providers, and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC‑GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. Education & Qualifications High school diploma required. Graduate of an approved radiologic technologist program required. Experience in a clinical setting preferred. BLS required at time of hire. ARRT registration required at time of hire. State licensure as a radiologic technologist required at time of hire (if applicable). Essential Functions Perform X‑ray services for patients of all age groups under clinical provider direction. Ensure proper positioning of patients and protection during use. Assist with patient movement, including wheelchair assistance. Patient Preparation and Rooming Inform technical staff of patient flow. Prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews to verify patient information and medical history. Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and elevate critical cases to the provider as needed. Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to providers. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files. Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up care. Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed. Other Responsibilities Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine optimal procedures or views for accurate diagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly. Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answer questions. Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results. Select proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high‑quality diagnostic images. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning of X‑ray equipment, and manage necessary supplies. Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA to minimize exposure to patients and staff. Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks as required. Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology. Position patients properly for the X‑ray procedure required. Identify equipment problems and correct or notify supervisor. Follow infection control and radiological safety procedures. #J-18808-Ljbffr
