Senior Construction Liability Claim Representative

Investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate, and resolve assigned Specialty Liability bodily injury and property damage claims Handle assigned severe claims directly Provide quality customer service and ensure file quality, timely coverage analysis, and communication with insureds Consult with the Manager on use of Claim Coverage Counsel as needed Investigate claims through contact with policyholders, accounts, claimants, law enforcement, witnesses, agents, medical providers, and technical experts Conduct interviews and take statements as strategically appropriate Complete outside investigations as needed Identify, select, and direct internal and external resources such as Subrogation, Risk Control, nurse consultants, and investigators Verify injury and property damage through records and documentation review Maintain claim files and document claim activities Use evaluation documentation tools and diary management systems Review Claim File Analysis for quality standards and trend analysis Evaluate liability and damages exposure and establish indemnity and expense reserves Recommend and present cases at roundtables and authority discussions Share creative resolution techniques and develop resolution strategies Dispose of claims within delegated authority and negotiate with insureds, claimants, and legal representatives Manage litigated claims, develop litigation plans, and direct claim and litigation strategy Select counsel and track and control legal expenses Manage allocated and unallocated loss adjustment expenses Attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials, and other legal proceedings as needed Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor's Degree High School Degree or GED 3 years business experience 2 years of liability claim handling experience and/or comparable litigation claim experience Advanced knowledge and skill in claim and litigation Basic working knowledge of various business line products Strong negotiation and customer service skills Skilled in coverage, liability, and damages analysis Thorough understanding of the litigation process, relevant case and statutory law, and expert litigation management Extensive claim and/or legal experience and technical expertise to evaluate severe and complex claims Thorough understanding of commercial lines products, policy language, exclusions, ISO forms, and effective claims handling practices Advanced written and verbal communication skills Strong technology aptitude and ability to use business technology tools Intermediate knowledge of insurance contracts, principles of investigation, value determination, settlement techniques, and medical knowledge Basic legal knowledge Insurance license(s) may be required to comply with state and Travelers requirements; generally required within three months of starting Core Competencies Demonstrates advanced knowledge in claim and litigation management, with a strong ability to evaluate and resolve complex liability claims. Proficient in negotiation, customer service, and utilizing business technology tools to enhance claims handling processes.
