Job Title: Parts Cleaner / Sandblaster Job Description

This entry-level Parts Cleaner / Sandblaster role supports electric motor remanufacturing and repair operations by preparing components through cleaning, blasting, painting, and general labor tasks. Working primarily in the disassembly department, you will help ensure electric motor parts are properly cleaned and prepared for repair and assembly. Strong performers have the opportunity to advance and be cross-trained in additional mechanical and assembly functions within a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

• Perform steam cleaning, sandblasting, painting, and parts preparation for electric motor components.
• Operate sandblasting equipment safely and efficiently in an industrial environment.
• Clean and prepare electric motor parts for repair, remanufacturing, and assembly processes.
• Assist mechanics with electric motor teardown and disassembly activities.
• Perform grinding and other miscellaneous mechanical tasks as assigned.
• Use and maintain hand tools and equipment in safe and reliable working condition.
• Follow written procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines at all times.
• Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work area, even in a dirty-work environment.
• Support production goals while consistently adhering to quality standards.
• Work overtime, extended shifts, weekends, and occasional holidays as business needs require.

• Ability to perform industrial cleaning, including steam cleaning and parts cleaning, in demanding conditions.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and handle frequent physical labor.
• Ability to stand, kneel, stoop, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Comfort working in a dirty-work environment with blasting, cleaning, and preparation activities.
• Reliability with consistent attendance and dependable transportation.
• Mechanical aptitude, including comfort using hand tools and assisting with equipment teardown.
• Ability to follow instructions, written procedures, and safety protocols accurately.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and successfully pass respirator clearance and fit testing.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic in a fast-paced production environment.

• Previous sandblasting or abrasive blasting experience in an industrial environment.
• Industrial cleaning experience, including equipment cleaning or similar roles.
• Manufacturing, machine shop, or general industrial experience.
• Experience with facilities maintenance, janitorial duties, or custodial maintenance.
• Painting experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Manual labor experience involving heavy physical activity.
• Mechanical aptitude or prior experience using a variety of hand tools.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support varying production demands.
• Willingness to provide and wear steel-toe boots as part of daily attire.

This role is based in an industrial machine shop environment that supports electric motor remanufacturing and repair. Much of the facility is climate-controlled, but the parts cleaning and sandblasting area is considered one of the dirtiest work areas due to blasting, cleaning, and preparation activities. The position involves heavy physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and repetitive movements throughout the shift. Personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators for certain tasks, is required, and you must wear steel-toe boots as part of the daily dress code. The work is fast-paced and production-driven, focused on meeting customer demands and deadlines. The current schedule is a day shift, Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with overtime available and often expected. Depending on business needs, you may be required to extend shifts and work some weekends or holidays to support customer requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
