Design Engineer

The Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of new products and components from concept to production. This role will also be responsible for maintenance and improvements of existing products. Key Responsibilities Develop and/or assist in the development of complete designs of new products, subassemblies, and components. Develop product improvements as either product line extensions or value engineering cost savings. Calculate and validate critical mechanical and/or electrical design parameters in order to ensure a safe, reliable and cost-effective designs. Collaborate with product development team, consultants, suppliers, and manufacturing to develop concepts, resolve design issues, and implement designs into production that meet cost, timeline, and specification targets. Prepare 3D CAD models and drawings for components and assemblies. Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including BOM's, drawings, and work instructions for new and existing products. Support production to achieve goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvements. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science in engineering related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years' product design experience preferred. A working knowledge of common manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, stampings, aluminum and steel weldments, precision machined components, etc. 3D Solid modeling experience required. Qualifications Must be able to work on multiple projects under time restrictions in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated engineering project management and organizational skills, Refrigeration and/or Electro-Mechanical design experience is a plus. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms with suppliers, customers and employees within the organization. Available to travel, including internationally up to 20%. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Lean Manufacturing experience and knowledge is a plus. Must be results driven and self-motivated with a desire to achieve. Physical Requirements Wear required safety equipment when on shop floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
