Job Description
We are looking for a Project Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for our hardwood
flooring projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. You will
provide insights into costs and benefits that support profitable business decisions. The
ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset. You must
be thorough and adept at managing relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities
 Understand the project/program and its requirements

• Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and architectural drawings to determine scope and requirements.
• Familiarize yourself with the unique aspects of each flooring project. Determine key variables for cost and other estimates
• Calculate quantities of materials, labor costs, equipment needs, and project timelines
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Order review, match samples and suggest alternatives.

 Gather information from sites, projects, or other venues.

Access project sites to collect necessary data and measurements.

• Coordinate with site personnel to understand on-site conditions.

 Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production
times, etc.

• Stay updated on current prices of materials and labor rates.
• Monitor market trends and material price fluctuations.

 Use software for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting

• Utilize estimating software and CAD programs (e.g., AutoCAD, PlanSwift) for accurate calculations.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings and floor plans.

 Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors

• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain up-to-date pricing on materials and services.
• Evaluate quotes to ensure they meet project specifications and budget.

 Perform risk analysis

• Identify potential risks or challenges in project execution.
• Propose viable solutions to mitigate risks.

 Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons

• Compile comprehensive project cost summaries, including all direct and indirect expenses.
• Submit estimates and bids to project managers, clients, or bidding competitions.

 Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers,
etc.)

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Negotiate terms and conditions to benefit project outcomes.

 Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs, etc.)

• Advise on project scheduling, resource allocation, and manpower requirements.
• Collaborate with the project management team to ensure seamless project execution.

Qualifications
 Proven experience as a Project Estimator or similar role.
 Familiarity with financial and project management principles.
 In-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation
formulas.
 Excellent knowledge of software like MS Office, Excel and Salesforce.
 Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
 Thoroughness and reliability.
 Excellent organizational skills.
 BSc/BA in Engineering, Construction Science, Architecture, or a relevant field.
 Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other relevant certifications would be
an advantage.
 Extensive knowledge of hardwood flooring materials, installation methods, and
industry best practices.
