Water Treatment Plant OperatorWater Supply DivisionPay Rate: $26.72 – $34.12 per hour (Class I OEPA Certification)$28.06 – $35.81 per hour (Class II OEPA Certification)$29.44 – $37.60 per hour (Class III OEPA Certification)Summary: This full-time, hourly position, represented by the BGEO bargaining unit, is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation and maintenance of the City's Water Treatment Plant to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water.Job Responsibilities: Responsibilities include monitoring and overseeing plant operations; collecting and testing water samples; performing laboratory analyses to evaluate water quality; inspecting plant equipment and making necessary adjustments; monitoring clearwell and water tower levels; recording chemical feed amounts, meter readings, and plant flow; maintaining operational records; performing preventive maintenance and facility upkeep; training new employees; conducting plant tours; and performing other duties as assigned. Additional responsibilities performed during the day shift include handling hazardous and toxic chemicals and conducting electrical and mechanical maintenance.Experience and Education Requirements: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, Chemical Analysis Certification, and three to five years of relevant experience. An Ohio Class I Water Treatment Operator certification is preferred; candidates must be able to obtain certification within three years.
